Please join me to learn more about the real world of interior design. My name is Laura McDonald Stewart, RID, FASID, LEED AP, WELL AP, and I’ve been in this industry since 1996 after I got my MFA in Interior Design from SCAD and my BS in Civil Engineering from SMU. For the first part of my career I worked for a small, tight-knit firm that allowed me to immerse myself in all aspects and phases of a project, both commercial and residential. Then I founded Laura McDonald Enterprises doing small workplace and residential projects plus some marketing and web design for interior designers. Simultaneously I founded PLiNTH & CHiNTZ, the interior design blog and industry resource. For almost 10 years I also managed METROCON Expo & Conference, the annual two-day event in Dallas focusing on the built environment. To get an even broader perspective, we will be joining fellow designer Corey Davey, ASID of Curate Studios and his students. During our time together, we’ll visit several showrooms in Dallas Design District where you’ll be exposed to products and services and meet some knowledgable industry representatives. We’ll also have lunch and visit about all this industry has to offer. FYI: I’m taking up to 3 students for this experience. Please wear business casual attire - i.e., no sweats, workout gear or t-shirts, but nice jeans are OK.
