If you’re looking for a not-so-ordinary shadow experience, please join me! My name is Jessica Mason, ASID. After graduating from Texas State University, through internships and part-time employment with different residential design firms, I discovered an affinity for decorative elements like lighting, tile, flooring, and hardware versus the softer side of design (i.e. textiles and upholstered furniture). This knowledge took me to showrooms in the Austin area where I gained an even broader knowledge of these decorative elements, and I discovered a deep passion for architectural hardware. In 2018, I ventured out on my own. I operate a studio called Ironwood Industries with my husband. Ironwood Industries is multi-disciplinary design house that’s also a wood and metal studio. We design and build studio furniture and contemporary sculpture, and we specialize in architectural hardware for residential and commercial environments. Every day is different. I split my time between our studio in Coupland, Texas, our showroom in Taylor, Texas, and client meetings in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas! Oh, and did I mention our studio is in a 125-year-old brick building in downtown Coupland? And did I tell you that our showroom is in a recently renovated industrial building in downtown Taylor – next to a coffee shop and a brewery? And did I also mention we’re opening a satellite showroom at The Marketplace, Austin’s new design destination? Not so ordinary! I would love to meet with you and answer any questions you have about what I do and how I do it. We can talk about different products, meshing art and design, or forging your own unique path in the design world. Please wear casual attire. FYI: I’m taking up to 2 students for this virtual experience.
