Hi, my name is Sharon Hargrove, Allied ASID, and I am Principal Designer for my own firm, Sharon Hargrove Interiors. I have had a passion for design as long as I can remember. I would arrange and rearrange my bedroom often. I would notice the architecture and furnishings of my friends’ houses. When it was time to pick a major at my university I kept flipping back to the interior design page but decided this was an impractical choice so I marched myself over to the business department but kept adding electives from the home economics department. I spent the next several decades raising three terrific kids and working at a few occupations as well as volunteering in the schools quite a bit. I always checked out interior design programs in our area but the timing never seemed to work out. As soon as we our youngest went to college my husband was transferred and I suddenly found myself with no job or kids or volunteer activities occupying my time, I timidly enrolled in the local community college staring with one class then quickly realized I loved the experience and went full time. I have since earned my degree and become active with our local ASID Design Community. I now have the technical skills to combine with my eye for design and project management skills to help clients achieve the spaces they envision. If you choose my experience, we will be meeting up with my friend and fellow interior designer Jennifer Mueller, Allied ASID, and the student shadowing her. Together we will discuss our career journeys and introduce you to project planning for clients. You will also experience sourcing for all kinds of furnishings, materials and components, including flooring / tile. We will be driving between sourcing sites, so you will need to have access to a car all day. Please wear business casual attire and comfortable shoes. FYI: I’m taking up to 2 students for this experience.
