(Wed) Carolyn Darensbourg
Please join me, Carolyn Mullin Darensbourg, Allied ASID, to learn more about the real world of interior design. My company is CMD Designs in the San Antonio area. I’ve been in the home improvement design industry for over 40 years. My first job was at Wallpapers to Go in Morrow, Georgia outside of Atlanta, where I attended design school. There I learned retail sales, how to hang wallpaper and to design vignettes. Later I took that skill set and started my decorating business where I installed wallpaper and provided design services. I worked for smaller specialty retail stores, construction company, cabinet company, Sherwin Williams, Lowes and Home Depot stores. This is where I gained a lot of knowledge and on the job training in all things pertaining to the home improvement industry. While working in various departments in Lowes and Home Depot I found my passion in kitchen and bath design/remodel. I enjoy all things beautiful. If you pick my experience, we will talk all things design. As an interior designer I would like to think that the world needs us to make it functional, livable, beautiful and to bring style and color to every interior spaces. The computer software I use is 2020. It is used in the kitchen and bath design industry. Being an Allied ASID member and a NKBA member has made a huge difference in my life and business. Both professional organizations give you a sense of belonging to a design community that has your back. It gives you confidence, a sounding board for those difficult clients, recognition, varies training tools and CEUs and so much more. I highly recommend that you become members and volunteer. We need you, your smiles, your ideas and energy. I know that we will learn from each other. It will be an honor and privilege to be in your presence and getting to know you. FYI: I’m taking up to 3 students for this virtual experience.
