                        You graduate from your interior design program, but then what? We have put together a panel of emerging interior designers and some of their mentors experienced in the fields of commercial, healthcare, hospitality, multifamily and residential fields to share their experiences with you the afternoon of Saturday, October 15, 2011 @ 1:15p.                         John Phifer Marrs, RID, ASID

                        Back by popular demand – Funny and irreverent with a Saturday Night Live sense of humor, John Phifer Marrs has been very busy entertaining his clients and creating magical interiors in Texas and throughout the United States. From a whimsical lakeside cabin to a serious Georgian inspired private library, his work displays a broad range of styles, periods and color palettes. Known for his Southern inspiration, John often pares the very finest with the simplest to create what he describes as an "inherited look". His work has been regularly featured in local and national publications from Texas Home and Living to the venerable Architectural Digest.

                        In his namesake Dallas shop, John offers an assortment of antique American furniture, contemporary artwork, 19th century porcelain, tabletop accessories and custom lighting. The location also houses his design studio and support staff. A former Texas Chapter president, guest lecturer, traveler and collector, John’s own homes in Dallas and Arkansas were featured in the recently published book Designers Here and There – Inside the City and Country Homes.


                        Jason Buckner, RID, IIDA

                        Jason Buckner is a distinguished interior designer with extensive knowledge of the business and exposure to the world of design. Jason graduated from Kansas State University as an outstanding senior with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design May of 2000.

                        His current responsibilities consist of leading the interiors studio and its design direction as interior studio manager within BOKA Powell Architecture. With a diverse portfolio of Corporate, Sports and Entertainment, Healthcare and Higher Education clients, he brings a multidisciplinary approach to his projects. Jason embraces design and makes it a focus to be a leader in the industry helping his clients bring their vision to reality.

                        Derek Alan Vanlandingham

                        John Phifer Marrs, Inc.

                        Derek has spent the last 11 years at John Phifer Marrs, Inc. working on a variety of projects including new home construction, residential renovation, custom furniture, and even seasonal decoration. Derek also enjoys working with clients to creatively re-think their current environments to give them new interest and added longevity in their existing homes.

                        Derek graduated from Baylor University in 1991, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Anthropology. After working in other fields, he returned to school and successfully completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design with a minor in Engineering from the University of North Texas. After graduation, he attended the Parsons New School Program through New York University on Architectural Studies and Interior Design in Paris. There he studied French Architecture, Interior Design, City Planning, and Art History.





                        Elizabeth Stanfield, RID, ASID

                        Elizabeth Stanfield has an extensive background in multi-family housing, specializing in interior design and architecture of high-end condominium and leasing properties throughout the United States. Currently, she is primarily working on Higher Education projects that include on-campus residence halls and dining facilities. While at BOKA Powell, she has also worked on several hospitality, corporate office and medical office building projects.  

                        Elizabeth graduated from Baylor University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a minor in Business Administration. She is both a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Texas and a professional member of ASID, and she has a vast knowledge of Revit, SketchUp and Photoshop.

                        Amy Armstrong, Allied Member ASID

                        Amy Armstrong has been with the RSVP Design Services team since early August 2008. Since graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, she has enjoyed working for the high-end residential and commercial interior design firm and has already garnered several Legacy of Design Awards, the annual competition recognizing the finest interior design achievements within the ASID Texas Chapter.

                        Amy has extensive knowledge in graphic and 3D presentation through AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, 3D Max. With these tools, she is able to help her clients, contractors and vendors visualize the end result and to contribute to the creation of RSVP’s innovative designs. Amy will be sitting for the NCIDQ Exam soon, loves her job and feels like she has been given a great opportunity to learn and grow in this wonderful field.
