Student Symposium presented by ASID Texas Chapter

The ASID Texas Chapter Student Scholarships for the 2011/2012 academic year are MERIT BASED and not based on a design project. On October 15, 2011 - Day 2 of the 2011 Student Symposium - scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $2,000 were awarded to the following three worthy recipients based on the merit of their applications, references, and activities. 

CONGRATULATIONS to the following recipients of the 2011 ASID Texas Chapter Student Scholarships!

• 1st Place [$2,000] | Kailey Jo Rawson, Student Member ASID – Baylor University, Senior: Kailey has been active in both ASID as officer for several years as well as working and volunteering her time. She changed her major in her junior year when she found “interior design” – she the completed her foundation courses in a year to catch up. She plans to go onto graduate school to teach. • 2nd Place [$1,500] | Melanie Bartholomew, Student Member ASID – Abilene Christian University, Senior: Melanie has been very active in ASID since her freshman year and has won several competitions. Her summer internship recommendation stated that her quality of work was at or above the similar full time positions and that they would like to have her join their firm after graduation. • 3rd Place [$1,000] | Kristin Marie Amundsen, Student Member ASID – University of Texas at Austin, Junior: Kristin has been active as social coordinator of Apersand, the combined student chapters of ASID and IIDA at UT.  She won the Excellence in Interior Design Award for Interior Design lV this past spring presented by the Dean and Faculty of the UT School of Architecture.
